Back in 2007 Paul Hammer and Deidre Muro were frustrated solo artists who formed Savoir Adore as a bit of a dare – the duo retreated to a rural studio with two rules: 48 hours and no acoustic guitars. And as a result of those sessions the band returned with two critically applauded EPs, The Adventures of Mr. Pumpernickel and The Girl With Animals In Her Throat. 2009 saw their debut full length effort, In the Wooded ForestOur Nature is the band’s second full-length album and in many ways not just a follow up to their debut, it offers a reportedly more expansive sound. “Empire of Light,” is the second single off the album. With it’s sweetly sung harmonies, the song reminds me a lot of Belle and Sebastian – if they they randomly decided to make a gentle electronica song.
