Swedish born, New Orleans-based singer/songwriter Theresa Andersson’s sophomore effort Street Songs was released earlier this year through Basin Street Records, and it has been critically applauded by publications such as Spin, USA Today, the New York Times, and others. Andersson has developed a reputation for her live show – she frequently plays several instruments and employs the use of loop pedals to build layers of percussion and instrumentation. So with that in mind, check out this live version of album track, “Injuns” recorded in Blase, Sweden. Andersson’s haunting vocals twist and float around and above a deeply percussive track – it’s punctuated by handclaps and deep, thrumming bass, which give the song a tribal, almost primal feel.
