Norwegian quintet Highasakite has gotten quite a bit of love from publications such as Pitchfork, NME, Paste and even MTV. The band recently released their latest EP in and out of weeks and they’re making their Stateside debut with a rather extensive tour that includes several SXSW shows, and two NYC area shows – March 20th at Mercury Lounge at 8pm; and March 21 at the Glaslands Gallery at 10pm.
What makes this track, “Son of a Bitch,” interesting to me is that it has the old time, 60s rock feel that’s popular of late, complete with interesting harmonies. Think of a band like NYC’s Lucius but with a more straightforward rock edge. At one point, the guitar chords kind of reminds me of the Pretenders, believe it or not.
