In music, just like everything else, the adage of the six degrees of separation is very much true – even in a city like New York, there are times when the city is quite small. In the case of the Brooklyn-based band EMEFE, their drummer (who is unseen in the video) is also a member of Superhuman Happiness

Check out this incredible live footage of EMEFE playing “Good Future” from their new album of the same name, at the Bottletree Cafe in Birmingham, Alabama

If you’re familiar with Afrobeat at all, you’ll hear that EMEFE’s sound owe’s a great debt to Expensive Shit/He Miss Road-era Fela Kuti, with it’s emphasis on keyboards and insane horn lines, great solos, and chanted lyrics.

They’ll be opening for Superhuman Happiness at Le Poisson Rouge on March 29th, and trust me it’ll be a good time.
