The Dig’s  Midnight Flowers was one of the prettier albums I had come across last year – the album landed at number 32 on this site’s Best of 2012 list, and it received tons of praise from other places throughout the blogosphere.

On June 4th, the band will be releasing the Tired Hearts EP as the follow up to their critically acclaimed 2012 release. “Angeline” is one of the singles off the EP and it’s a gorgeous, atmospheric wisp of a song (for about 2/3rds of the song) that expresses a desperate, urgent longing. The band also manages to show growth as songwriters with an impressive, buzzing, psychedelic section held together by plinking piano chords and feedback.

The band will be on a 16 city tour to support the new release and it’ll include stops in Washington, DC; Charlotte, NC; Knoxville, TN; Little Rock, AR; Fort Worth, TX; Austin, TX; San Francisco, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Las Vegas, NV; Salt Lake City, UT; and a July 12th stop at the Knitting Factory
