Occasionally, large festivals can be exhausting mixed bags. With things going on simultaneously, you’re forced to make a difficult balancing act between those acts which you may find personally enjoyable an newsworthy with discovering something that could either be really awesome – or downright terrible. With the last night of the New Music Seminar Festival, I really wasn’t sure what I was going to catch and cover but thanks to the oracle of the Google, I found the music of Twin Wave and the Grizzled Mighty and dug what I had heard. In fact, the Seattle duo of the Grizzled Mighty was one of my highlights of the festival.

From this awesome live performance, the band’s fuzzy, grungy blues will remind you a bit of the White Stripes, the Black Keys, even White Mystery but i think it has a more violent, whiskey-fueled, “I don’t give a fuck” kind of vibe. Check out the footage as you’ll see at one point that vocalist and guitarist Ryan Granger accidentally knock over one of drummer Whitney Perry’s cymbals, a helluva lot of jumping and stomping around and a blistering, stormy sound. It’s pretty badass, really.
