Officially formed in 2010, Tedeschi Trucks Band allowed both it’s namesakes and co-founders Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi to spend more time together as they wrote, recorded and toured. The band, which is intimately connected to the legendary Allman Brothers Band will be releasing a new effort,  Make Up Mind on August 20 through Sony Masterworks Records.

The album which was co-produced by Jim Scott, who has worked with the likes of Johnny Cash, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Wilco, includes this first single, “Part of Me” which sounds as though it owes a great debt to the Muscle Shoals soul sound of the 60s and 70s with a subtle bit of the blues – you can hear it a little bit in the guitar solo, actually.

The band is touring to support the new effort, with co-headliners the Black Crowes (who are fantastic live). and the tour will include stops in Nashville, TN; Charlotte, NC; the Gathering of the Vibes out in Bridgeport, CT; Boston, MA; as well as September 20th and September 21st at the Beacon Theatre
