As a music blogger, I get a ton of emails about artists, new releases and tours from labels, pr firms and from the artists themselves, and as you can imagine the amount of email I regularly receive. I recently received en email from the folks at Stones Throw Records, one of my favorite labels, thanks to the variety of quality music put out. Interestingly enough, that email mentioned that Dam Funk was on tour with several Stones Throw Records artists as part of a funk and soul tour. And I came across this live footage of Dam Funk spinning and performing “Hood Pass Intact” at Boombox L.A.’s 6th anniversary last December.

Once you listen to this, it should remind you of the slickly produced synth-laden R&B of the 1980s but with the swagger and huge, boom bap beats of  West Coast hip hop.

Dam Funk’s making a stop at Union Pool in Williamsburg to spin at their Summer Thunder show.
