Raised in India and educated in London, Vandana Jain has been influenced by an eclectic array of music and aesthetic influences including  Portishead, Pink Floyd, Indian pop music, the London rave scene. Her latest single “Mask” from her forthcoming effort Anti Venus is a glitchy, throbbing and breathily seductive track which kind of reminds me of Kate Bush but murkier and with subtle bits of psychedelica throughout. Much like Bush, Jain has an expressive voice, the sort that manages to convey an urgent, plaintive lust within a turn of a phrase.
