The Hamilton, ON-based singer/pianist and producer Jessy Lanza will be releasing her debut effort, Pull My Hair Back through Hyperdub Records on September 17th, and the first single off that effort, “5785021” is a great example of what a number of artists have been doing with electronic pop music – essentially there’s a trend among indie artists to craft songs minimalist songs that are icy and yet seductive. And on this single, Lanza’s seductive coo floats about ethereally through the synths, and sounds like a come on – “call me at this number,” the narrator seems to say.
