Just the other day, I had spoken to the easy-going and charming Charlie Greene about this most recent full-length release, Wildfire Music. his eclectic influences and his songwriting process (which he admits is much harder than you think) on the latest Q&A. But right after the Q&A, Greene released a new single, “Everything Gets Me Down.” Much like the material on Wildfire Music, the new single has a sweetly easy-going country vibe that manages to sound both kind of old-timey and comfortable, like a well-worn pair of jeans. But unlike his previously released material, “Everything Gets Me Down,” manages to walk a careful tightrope between a sort of sad sack moan and a bitterly ironic sense of humor, thanks in part to Greene’s vocals (which on this track sounds eerily familiar – to me a bit like George Strait, actually.)
