As a blogger, I receive tons of emails from PR firms, labels and from the artists themselves. I recently received an email from a young Louisiana-based artist Brooklyn White. Admittedly, her email made my day, (and month, really) as she told me that she was a big fan of this site.
The video for “Hot Pink Hubris” shows that the young emcee has quite a bit of talent – the production values reflect the hazy, weirdness of modern, underground hip hop, as you’ll hear White spit over sparse, icy beats, anxious synths. In some way the track bears a resemblance to Missy Elliott and her wild experiments with Timbaland completed with a ridiculous hook.
