Each of the members of the New Royales hails from a different country world, Liz Rodrigues, who leant her vocals on Eminem’s “Survival,” is Portuguese; DJ Khalil, who has worked with Jay Z, Dr. Dre, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and Aloe Blacc, is American; Canadian multi-instrumentalist Eric Alcock and Chin Injeti have co-written with Pink on her multi-million selling album, Truth About Love, with Pitbull on his Can’t Stop Me Now and “Survival,” off Eminem’s Marshall Mathers LP 2

The band’s forthcoming effort, Freedom’s For The Brave: The Mixtape has the band covering songs from some of the influences, including Depeche Mode, the Zombies, Jefferson Airplane and others. The second single off the album is their rendition of the White StripesFell In Love With A Girl.” And their rendition removes the guitars for buzzing, pulsating synths, and club-ready beats. It also has Eric Alcock doing his best Jack White impression.

It’s an impressive rendition that doesn’t completely stick to a straightforward cover, as it offers a slightly anxious but thrilled interpretation, seemingly capturing how it would actually feel to fall in love with a girl.
