“Dead City Emily” is the first single off Marissa Nadler’s forthcoming sixth full-length album, July which will see a February 4th Stateside release through her new label Sacred Bones Records. Recorded in Avast Studios in Seattle, the album also marks Nadler’s first time working with producer Randall Dunn (who has worked with the likes of Earth, Sunn O))), Wolves in the Throne Room and others), and the result is a sparsely arranged track consisting of Nadler’s haunting vocals (which remind me quite a bit of Kate Bush), a hypnotic, finger picked acoustic guitar and hushed swirling electronics which create a wintery chill that belies the album’s summery title.

Nadler’s album release show will be at Glasslands Gallery on February 8th. and it should be an interesting night.
