The Brooklyn-based duo of Josh Ocean and Eric “Doc” Mendelsohn, better known as Ghost Beach, have started to gain the attention of the blogosphere for a sound that’s heavily rooted in 80s synth pop and reggae, as you’ll hear on “Without You,” the first single off the duo’s forthcoming full-length debut, Blonde, slated for a March 4 release through Nettwerk Records

Interestingly, although the duo claims influences such as UB40, Peter Gabriel, the Police, the Talking Heads, Daft Punk and others, the song reminds me quite a bit of Russ Manning’s Rush Midnight project – but whereas Rush Midnight was seemingly more R&B influenced, Ghost Beach seems much more club-friendly and has a slicker studio polish.
