Released last September, Bed & Bugs, the third full-length effort from the Brooklyn-based band Obits may arguably be one of the best straightforward rock albums of 2013. With the members of the band inching towards middle age, the material on the album openly poses questions about what it means to be famous and to be a relevant artist as you approach middle age with a furious roar that suggests that each member of the band will flat out refuse to go out gently into the good night. And as i get older, knowing that i can (and will) be kicking ass, just like these guys is kind of inspiring and reassuring.

“i’m Closing In,” the latest single from the Obits’s critically praised album is a little over two minutes of roaring, power chord rock with growled lyrics and holy shit, does it ever kick ass.
