When DJ Felix Pacheco and saxophonist/flutist Joe Woullard (of Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears and Hardproof) started the Austin, TX-based Cilantro Boombox, it was originally a studio-based collaboration between the two; however, in the four years since they’ve started the project, it has become a full-fledged octet that has developed a reputation for mashing up genres from different cultures with electronica in a totally distinct way. in fact on “Lluvia,” the B side of the band’s “Fears Away”/“Lluvia” single, you’ll hear a song that borrows heavily from Latin American genres, as well as disco, funk, hip-hop and others – and it’s done in a breezy and fun-loving fashion that will make you want to get up and dance.
