The new ABC sitcom, Fresh Off The Boat, is based around the life story of the show’s creator. Eddie Huang – as a hip-hop loving 12 year old in the early 90s, his immigrant family moved from Washington, DC’s Chinatown to suburban Orlando, FL. Reportedly, the show is partially a fish out of water story and a story about pursuing the American Dream, through the lens of first generation American.

Interestingly, Danny Brown created the show’s theme song “Fresh Off The Boat,” which features Brown’s nasal, rapid-fire braggadocio-filled flow paired with a sample that sounds borrowed from an old Wu-Tang Clan song. In some way, its overall sound bears a resemblance to the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme song, thanks to a subtly playful nature.
