Comprised of Dani Neff (vocals, guitar), Greg Yancey (bass) and Zack Humphrey (drums), the Austin, TX-based trio of Megafauna released their sophomore effort, Maximalist late last year and the album has the band taking an unabashedly over-the-top, expansive feel, as the material possesses elements of prog-rock, alt-rock, power pop, garage rock – but with tight hooks.

The album’s latest single and video “This Town” comes as the band announced a brief tour of the Southwest and Southeast during March, and the single is comprised of the blistering power chords, thick bass chords and thundering drums that may remind some listeners of Soundgarden, The Sword and of Screaming Females but with a subtly coquettish air beneath the badass snarling and asskicking. And just from listening to the song, Neff places herself on a list of incredible contemporary guitarists – a list that includes Screaming Females’ Marissa Paternoster and White Mystery’s Alex White.
