Because of his role in the development of house music, Frankie Knuckles has long been considered “The Godfather of House Music” – and one of the most influential artists in the history of electronic dance music (which coincidentally got its name from the Chicago-based club Knuckles developed the sound, the Warehouse). A little over year after his death, Knuckles’ influence manages to loom as large as ever; in fact, Junior Boys Own Records acts, Underworld and Heller and Farley teamed up to record and release a version of the Chicago house classic tune, “Baby Wants to Ride” to pay tribute to both Knuckles’ life and work. Although the track manages a precise, futuristic industrial sound, it pulsates with an urgent, sweaty sensuality that’s irresistible – and will make you want to dance.

If you order the track through http://www.babywantstoride.com, the proceeds from sales will go directly to the Frankie Knuckles Fund (a part of the Elton John AIDS Foundation), which will help support HIV education efforts, testing and treatment across the African Diaspora, it’s a good cause so download the track and play it a party.
