Comprised of Mads Damsgaard Kristiansen and Esben Valloe, the Copenhagen, Denmark-based duo formed Reptile Youth in 2009.Their self-titled debut album, received international attention as the album was critically applauded by the likes of Spin Magazine and Nylon for a sound that was compared to The Rapture and Radio 4.

After an intense period of touring to support both their debut effort and its follow-up, Rivers That Run For A Sea That Is Gone, Kristiansen had the urge to escape to Los Angeles for a few months of sun, leisure and writing – and the result was the duo’s forthcoming Away EP. EP title single and first single “Away” may arguably be the Danish duo’s sunniest and breeziest release to date, as Kristiansen’s ethereal falsetto singing lyrics expressing the desire to get away to someplace better are paired with four-on-the-floor drumming, twinkling keyboards, swirling, ambient electronics, and subtly buzzing guitar but just underneath the surface is a growing, desperate anxiety that gives the song a subtle sense of menace – as though the place the narrator wants to take the subject of his attention, will be the last place they’ll ever see.
