Deriving their name from an island just off the coast of Savannah, GA, the Atlanta-based quintet Little Tybee, comprised of Brock Scott (vocals, guitar, piano), Josh Martin (guitar), Nirvana Kelly (violin), Ryan Donald (bass) and Pat Brooks (percussion), have developed a reputation both across the Southeast and the rest of the country for a sound that incorporates elements of jazz, folk music and pop music with a cinematic scope. And as you’ll hear on “Tuck My Tail,” the latest single off the quintet’s forthcoming and fourth full-length effort, their sound manages to pair plaintive, earnest vocals with a gorgeous string arrangement, an incredible bass line and an extremely tight rhythm section, and in a way that reminds me quite a bit of Melbourne, Australia’s Husky, in the sense that both acts have a sound that’s incredibly pop leaning.
