New Video: Cincinnati’s Electric Citizen Channels 70s Heavy Metal on “Light Years Beyond”

Comprised of Ross Dolan (guitar), Laura Dolan (vocals), Nick Vogelpohl (bass) and Nate Wagner (drums), the Cincinnati, OH-based quartet Electric Citizen have received attention for a sound that channels Led Zeppelin, Rush, early Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, early Heart, and others since their formation in 2013. And with the release of their debut full-length effort, Sateen last year, the quartet have had a growing national profile as they’ve opened for Wolfmother, Fu Manchu and Budos Band — and their debut effort wound up on several Best of 2014 lists.
“Light Years Beyond,” the latest single off Sateen is comprised of huge, power chords, and thundering drumming paired with Dolan’s seductive crooning, complete with a scorching guitar solo, and the result is a song that sounds as though it were released in 1973. And it kicks ass.
The official video adds to that aesthetic as it channels the promotional videos Black Sabbath shot for “Iron Man” complete with the psychedelic superimposing of the images of band members on top of each other, the band’s set up on a stage with kaleidoscopic imagery projected behind them — and more.
The band will be embarking on a fall tour with Pentagram and it’ll include two  NYC area dates. Check out the dates and catch them at a venue near you:
