Photography: The Black and White Project: Days 42-49: May 14, 2016-May 22, 2016

Over the last couple of weeks I experienced major computer issues as the TYUI and O buttons on my MacBook Pro (which I bought back in 2012) stopped working, and as a result   I cobbled together a rather weird working set up in which I borrow my mother’s Windows 10 PC for the bulk of my correspondence and writing and my MacBook to edit photos. Then add the fact that over the past 6 weeks or so I’ve been managing this site while working full-time and that i’ve been sick with a cold that I just haven’t been able to kick, and as you an imagine things have been stressful, hectic and frustrating. Considering that my MacBook was 4 years old, and I had put a couple of hundred bucks into it for various repairs over the years, it seemed like the perfect time to just buy a new computer. So although my pocket is tremendously lighter, I have to admit that I’m thrilled to be up and working in the way that I’d prefer. During this particular period, I managed to take a photo on May 13 that I now can’t seem to find anywhere. Granted, for the Black and White Project that’s a first — but it sucks. So I actually owe y’all a day.

May 14 2016 (2a) (Photo Caption: Jimmy is one of several of my favorite regulars. And although it’s difficult to tell in these two photos, he was playing with a hackey sack while smoking a cigarette. At several points, Jimmy began explaining his particular technique, which was a pretty hilarious sight to behold.) May 14 2016 (3)

(Photo Caption: C took this picture of me and Jimmy hanging outside. Of course, Jimmy managed to close his eyes as the flash went off, which makes the picture much more hilarious to me.)

May 14 2016 (4) (Photo Caption: A Q59 bus turning on the corner of Grand Street and Roebling Street. I take this bus most of the time when I’m in Williamsburg — and frequently I wind up having to run out of the bar to catch a bus out of the fear of being stuck another hour or more for a late night bus.) (Photo Caption: This photo is inspired by a photo a fellow photographer, Ed Marshall posted on Facebook that he titled something along the lines of “Synchronicity” or something like that. When I was at the Second Avenue F station I saw what inspired him and took a similar picture.)

May 19 2016 (1b) (Photo Caption: I had promised a couple of coworkers at my new job that I’d have a few post work drinks, and that was followed up by an errand I had to take care of in Midtown. Of course, I had forgotten something at the office and as I was heading back to the office, I came across this psychedelic limo.) May 19 2016 (2)

(Photo Caption: I’ve spent countless nights at Clem’s looking at this saying scrawled on the mirror. If management somehow erased it, it would feel as though I was in the wrong bar.)
