Photography: Aretha Franklin Tribute Franklin Street Subway Tribute Etc. 8/17/18

When the news reports came out that Aretha Franklin was deathly ill, some impromptu tributes began popping up all around town — with the first being a handful of wheat pasted messages throughout the Franklin Street and Varick Street 1 station in the Tribeca section of Manhattan. I took advantage of summer hours at my day job to check out the tribute and unfortunately, most of those MTA unapproved tributes have since been taken down; however, so far one has remained — and I spent the rest of the day photographing random things in my city. Check out some photos below.

Caption: I was walking to the West 4th Street A,B,C,D,E F and M station when I caught this man, who was also being photographed by another photographer. I was told that he was recently profiled in Humans of New York, which isn’t surprising to me.
