AM and Shawn Lee’s sophomore effort together as a duo, La Musique Numerique (translated from French it means “Digital Music”) was released earlier this year through Park the Van Records. With the release of the new album, the duo have further cemented a reputation for having a production style that meshes digital and analog recording techniques and a sound that manages to be sunny and ethereal while playfully and adeptly blurring the lines between genres such as funk, dubstep, reggae, disco, soul and rock – and it’s done in a way that makes the material sound as though it could have been released in 1983, 2013 or 2043. The album version of “Replay” was a bit of spaced out, futuristic dub. But the duo recently a remix album, with remixes from their impressive, summery new album. On the remix album, they enlisted the likes of I, Ced, who has played with Dam Funk, and Shuggie Otis, to remix “Replay.” I Ced’s remix retains a subtle element of dub, and throbbing bass but it makes the song even spacier with a slickly polished surface.

The duo is heading on a fall tour and so far some of the early dates include stops in Dallas, TX; San Francisco, CA; Phoenix AZ; Santa Barbara, CA; and more.
