Best known under the moniker of MNEK, Uzo Emenike is a Grammy-nomiated British-Nigerian singer, songwriter, producer and remixer, who has worked with an incredible list of of artists including Kylie Minogue, Naughty Boy, Gorgon City, Duke Dumont, Rudimental, Little Mix and others. He’s also remixed songs by Duran Duran, Bastille, Tinie Tempah, Olly Murs and others. And we have to add to a growing international profile that Emenike contributed vocals to Madonna’s “Living for Love.”

“The Rhythm” off the recently released album Small Talk is a breezy dance pop track comprised of skittering rhythms, swirling electronics, pulsing synths and Emineke’s effortless yet plaintive vocals that channels both the contemporary R&B by the likes of Frank Ocean, Steven A. Clark and Beacon, and the slick production of old school house music – in particular, Snap! comes to mind.

Now, if you’ve been following JOVM for a while, you’re probably familiar with the Swiss producer Sebastian Muller, who’s best known to electronic music fans as Sebastian Carter. Muller is part of a growing sub-genre movement in electronic music that a number of journalists, bloggers and artist have dubbed, “chill-wave/deep house.” Producers and artists within the sub-genre employ the use of dreamy yet danceable rhythms, sensual melodies and sinuous keyboards; however, with his original material, the Swiss producer has set himself apart, as he’s developed a breezy, populist sound that’s infectious. The young Swiss producer has also developed a reputation for his work as a remixer; in fact, you might remember his remix of Chelsea Lankes’ “Down For Whatever.”

Muller’s latest remix, a remix of “MNEK’s “The Rhythm” retains Emineke’s effortless vocals and skittering percussion, but pairs them with swirling electronics, twinkling keyboards, and dense layers of synths and boom bap drums and turns the song into a more direct, club-banging house music track.
