Comprised of Carlos Valle (guitar, vocals), Stefan Mersch (bass) and Kyle Beach (drums), the New York-based trio of Sun Voyager have released two EPs of psychedelic garage rock, Cosmic Tides and Mecca since their formation in 2012. The end of last year saw the release of a split EP with Brooklyn-based and King Pizza Records labelmates Greasy Hearts, titled Grease Voyage

“Black Angel” is the latest single off Sun Voyager’s half of the Grease Voyage EP and the single is comprised of scuzzy, droning power chords, four-on-the-floor drumming, falsetto vocals fed through reverb and squealing feedback. Sonically, the song bears an uncanny resemblance to The Black Angels, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, A Place to Bury Strangers and others; in other words, the New York-based trio manages to sound massive, murky, ominous and absolutely punishing.
