Currently based in NYC, Rex Buchanan is an up-and-coming DJ, producer and electronic music artist, and the founder of Discosapien, an events company, recording studio, DJ school and record label.
As an artist himself, Buchanan’s earliest influences included Daft Punk, Deadmau5, but lately he’s claimed Justin Martin, Dusky, Claude Vonstroke, and Duke Dumont as more recent influences into his sound and his recording/writing process. However, interestingly enough, his latest single “Zoomin’” is a dense, propulsive club banger with layers of sinuous synths that bears an uncanny resemblance to Octo Octa’s Between Two Selves and to many of 100% Silk’s releases that year in the sense that the track possess a rather fluid and ethereal quality to it.
