Ebony Bones’ whose stage name was originally coined by the Damned’s Rat Scabies has developed a reputation for a sound that adeptly blurs the genre boundaries between punk, pop, soul and even hip hop. But interestingly enough, her sound actually was heavily inspired by her experiences as a child – her father ran a music stall at the Brixton Market and the young Ebony Bones grew up listening to Public Enemy, Fela Kuti, Brian Eno, Quincy Jones, Siouxsie Sioux and others.

Behold, A Pale Horse Ebony Bones’ latest effort was released a few months ago and a number of singles off the album have received some attention across the blogosphere. Just before a special show which will feature TECLA and Sal P of LIQUID LiQUID at Littlefield on Wednesday, Ebony Bones released the Sal P remix of “Bread & Circus.” Sal P’s remix gives the song a palpable tension thanks to buzzing synth, before becoming a festival pleasing techno song along the lines of the Chemical Brothers’ “Come With Us."
