Jake Hays is a Los Angeles, CA-based multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, who writes and records under the moniker Maudlin Strangers. And interestingly. Hays also managed to engineer, track and produce his forthcoming effort Overdose from his bedroom – although if you hear his work it doesn’t have the prototypical lo-fi sound of most bedroom indie rock producers. In fact, album title track “Overdose,” was released earlier this year to critical praise across the blogosphere, thanks to an incredibly slick production style and a densely layered sound that buzzes with an anxious urgency, as you’ll hear on his latest single “Stay Young." 

In some way, thanks to the glistening synths and propulsive nature, the track bears an uncanny resemblance to MGMT’s Oracular Spectacular – but much darker.
