Just a few weeks ago, I had written about “The Voyeur” the latest single from the Los Angeles-based duo of Ultra Violent Rays. Comprised of of Cooper Gillespie (vocals, bass) and Greg Gordon (drums and sequencers), the duo claims  influences such as Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division and Portishead, and those influences are evident in the song’s sinuous baseline and ominous yet dream-like feel, as though the song would dissipate before your eyes; however, “The Voyeur” is an incredibly seductive song, thanks in part to Gillespie’s come hither-like coo — but just under the surface there’s a sense of gnawing regret.

The official video also comes in advance of the duo’s West Coast tour and the video has a sensual, sadomasochistic feel that fits with the song’s overall debaucherous feel.
