Like countless artists, Marz Leon got into music at a very young age, and used it to express her innermost thoughts and feelings; in fact Leon started writing her own songs at 14 and eventually enrolled in college courses to learn engineering and beatmaking, so that she could do it on her own (which interestingly enough, continues her own fiercely independent streak).
Leon’s debut single “LONER” is an moody, pensive track full of menacingly swirling electronics and sparse beats that give Leon’s sultry vocals room to roam about the material. In some way, the track reminds me quite a bit of Beacon for the same reason – both artists’s material evokes a late night, lonely anxiety.
