Everett Bradley is a Grammy-nominated percussionist and multi-instrumentalist, best known for his work with Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band and Bon Jovi. But he’s also the creator and star of Holidelic. And in Holidelic, Bradley plays the role of Papadelic, Funk’s very own Father Christmas, an amalgamation of George Clinton and Santa Claus, with the show featuring holiday-themed funk songs written by Bradley and performed by an array of top-shelf players.
The show debuted in 2002 and can trace its origins to Bradley’s holiday album, Toy. “After 9/11, I felt like we all needed to heal, and the way I was going to do that was by writing Christmas songs,” he explains. “Then I got the idea to combine two of my favorite things – Christmas and funk.”
Bradley revised his holiday funk revenue with a 12 show run at The Lucille Lortel Theatre between December 9-December 31 as part of the theater’s holiday performance series, Tinsel: A Global Holiday Celebration. Taking place from December 6-December 21, the performance series features live music, performance and dance with leading artists around the globe.
