Live Concert Photography: Mozes and the Firstborn with The Parrots and The Muckers at Rough Trade 2/15/19
I’ve been adhering to social distancing guidelines and to self-quarantine whenever possible over the past close to 70 days or so — and although at times it’s been lonely and a bit monotonous, I’ve managed to fully throw myself into my work. What else is there to really do, right?
Of course, over the course of this site’s ten year history, I’ve managed to compile and develop a deep archive of previously unedited and unpublished photos. As I’ve mentioned on a number of occasions: much of my work with JOVM has coincided with working full-time, corporate jobs in the editorial departments of a handful of publishing houses. Understandably, between commuting back and forth between my Corona, Queens, NYC apartment, my full-time jobs, shows and back home, along with having a social life and dating, there just wasn’t enough time to do everything.
With all of this time, I’ve begun to go through my archive, posting photos from these old shows. And as you can imagine, much of this work has been an uncomfortable reminder of the fact that until there’s a vaccine or a drug treatment for COVID-19, live music just can’t happen. Until then . . .
Last year, I caught Dutch rock act Mozes and the Firstborn, acclaimed, Madrid-based, garage rock, JOVM mainstays The Parrots and the rising New York-based act The Muckers. Check out photos from the show below.
