Model and singer/songwriter Marial Mahal writes and records under the moniker of Seasick Mama. The release of her debut EP, Dead Like Money received quite a bit of attention and praise across the blogosphere – among some of her accolades, MTVu named her (and her backing band) one of the Seven Must-See Brooklyn Bands. Her sophomore effort, Tip Top Shape which was produced by TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek, was released a few weeks back. and the EP’s first single (and video), “Man Overboard” has also received quite a bit of attention – the video was shot on location in the beautiful Dominican Republic, and involved a complex story within a story about betrayal and seduction. 

Sonically, the song is a pop song that employs elements of reggae and mod-era pop in a fashion similar to that of Wild Belle but with a slinky, seductiveness. It makes the video seem even more fitting.
