Record Store Day this year will be April 20th, and in honor of the occasion you’ll see some rare and unusual collaborations released on vinyl and other formats with the hopes that music fans will stop in and support their local record store. Moby and Mark Lanegan (yeah, Mark Lanegan of Screaming Trees fame) team up together for this hauntingly eerie single, “The Lonely Night.” Lanegan’s voice sounds more ragged and forlorn – in fact, he sounds a helluva lot like Tom Waits, 

The video directed by Colin Rich uses time lapse photography to capture the haunting beauty of the desert and the seemingly endless expanse of Los Angeles. The video itself manages to add to the sense of loneliness inherent in the song, and more important, it’s fucking beautiful.
