Spectrals began as the solo, bedroom-based lo-fi recording project of Heckmondwike, Yorkshire-based Louis Jones. And he released a number of his earliest singles through indie labels such as Captured Tracks, Tough Love Records, Moshi Moshi, and others before Jones enlisted his brother Will to play drums (along with a revolving cast of touring members).

Spectrals recently released their latest effort, Sob Story, the follow up to their critically well received Bad Penny, and “A Heartbeat Behind,” one of my favorite tracks off the new album reveals that one of his major influences was Elvis Costello – the song has the same sort of offbeat, neurotic wit, backed with an incredibly catchy hook. So with that in mind, check out the official video which was recently released.
