The Octopus Project’s latest full-length album, Fever Forms was released earlier this year by Peek-A-Boo Records, and sonically, the album has the relentlessly experimental Austin, TX-based quartet altering their sound –there’s more of an emphasis on buzzing synths, the haunting hum of the theremin, along with guitars and drums. “Perhap,” the latest single off Fever Forms is an ethereal track that lingers a bit like smoke lazily drifting about a gentle breeze – or a fever dream that’s both hallucinatory yet all too real. In any case, as you’ll hear the song, you’ll notice that the song manages a taut minimalism that allows the instruments room to breathe.

The band is embarking on a fall tour that will have them playing in venues across the Southwestern and Western US. If you’re in cities such as San Antonio, TX; Norman, OK; Denver, CO; Salt Lake City, UT; Seattle, WA; San Francisco, CA; and others, you should go out and catch them. I’ve seen them twice and their live set is full of a ridiculously joyful energy.
