They Might Be Giants recently released their first full-length album of adult material in the first time in quite some time, Nanobots. They finished a successful tour of Australia and New Zealand and made a stop at Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to play one of my favorite TMBG songs their rendition of, “Istanbul (Not Constantinople)." 

They Might Be Giant’s rendition, which was originally released in 1990 had a decidedly klezmer sound, giving the song an appropriately old-world feel and sensibility underneath the playfulness of it. Naturally, if you’re a child of the 80s and early 90s as I was, you likely remember the song appearing on a rather hilarious episode of Tiny Toon Adventures. Of course, the live version rocks more but it brings back so many memories.
