Vocalist and co-songwriter Bree Sharp of Beautiful Small Machines started her career as a solo artist with a cult hit “David Duchovny (Why Won’t You Love Me?)” off her debut album, A Cheap and Evil Girl. And the video received national attention as it featured cameos from the likes of Brad Pitt, George Clooney, KISS, Charles Nelson Reilly and others. However, in  2009 Sharp’s manager introduced Sharp to her bandmate, producer and co-songwriter Don DiLego and the duo began writing songs together as Beautiful Small Machines. DiLego plays almost all the instruments including guitar, bass, piano, drums, harmonica and any other thing he might find lying around. 

The duo have received quite a bit of attention across both the blogosphere and the print world for a breezy, infectious pop sound, with a little bit of punk scuzz and twang as you’ll hear on the extremely summery “The Girls Are Here,” off their soon-to-be released The DJ Stayed At Home. At the bridge, the song takes on a Beach Boys-like feel thanks to the playful use of harmony. Honestly, it’s just an incredibly fun song that immediately put a smile on my face – and it’s the song of song that I’d want to hear while day drinking or doing just about anything outside.
