Winter Storm Nemo in Sunset Park

Winter Storm Nemo (they name these things now?), as many of you are aware dumped tons of snow across much of the Northern US. Naturally wanting to see how much snow we had dumped on us, I went with my dear friend K to Sunset Park where i took some great photos, and played in the snow. Well okay, not simultaneously but i think you know what I mean.

Typical for just about any snow storm, some local knuckleheads wrote some stupid messages on a snowed in car.

This car got buried in snow, thanks in part to the Sanitation Department plowing the streets and the large amount of snow most parts of the city received. Could you imagine waking up and having to get your car out of that?

Here, local families are playing in the snow. And it was quite common to see a few sleds around.

One of the several very large snowmen that we came across in the park. I suspect that it took a couple of hours to build this one, considering that the snow was powdery.

Sunset Park is not only is home to the highest point in Brooklyn, it also has one of the prettiest views of Lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty that you’ll see. There was something about watching people play in the snow with Lower Manhattan in the background that was just gorgeous – and honestly perfect. As you can see from the picture, the World Trade Center tower (in the center of the background) has been going up quickly.

Here we are posing with a rather large snowman. Funnily enough, a few minutes after taking pictures with this snowman, a boy started to beat the shit out of our friendly snowman with a broken tree branch – and for no apparent reason.

People sledding down one of the larger hills in the park. It looked like a lot of fun and I suspect that next winter, I’d be sledding down it myself. Hopefully, I don’t get myself killed!

This was one of the largest snowmen I’ve seen in some time – it was large enough to be turned into a snow chair man.
