Hailing from Adelaide, Australia and now based in New York, Craig Dermody who performs under the moniker Scott and Charlene’s Wedding, writes songs that deal with things a lot of us can be familiar with – heartbreak, working shitty. low-paying jobs, the sensation of alienation and loneliness in a large city. His forthcoming effort, Para Vista Social Club (named after the Adelaide suburb where Dermody grew up) will be released by Critical Heights Records and it’s a collection of off-the-cuff, sad-sack woes that sound as though they came from the diary of a fuck up. “Rejected,” is the latest single from that effort and to me it sounds like a drunken, shambling version of the Velvet Underground.
