Live Concert Photography: Laura Carbone with The Natvral at Baby’s All Right 9/22/19
Laura Carbone is a Berlin-based singer/songwriter, guitarist and photographer. And with the release of her first two albums — 2016’s Sirens and last year’s Empty Sea — Carbone has begun to receive attention for a sound and approach that bears an uncanny resemblance to PJ Harvey, Shana Falana and others. Last year also saw the release of her limited-edition debut book of photography, also named The Empty Sea.
Building upon a growing profile, Carbone and her backing band have toured with The Jesus and Mary Chain and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart before going on a headlining tour across Europe earlier this year. She’s also gone on a Stateside tour while playing a number of showcases across the US and Canada, including an appearance at this year’s SXSW Levitation Festival/Creem Magazine Showcase. Back in September, Carbone returned to North America on an extensive tour with The Natvral that included a headlining stop at Baby’s All Right.
With her backing band, Carbone played an explosive and self-assured, career-spanning set that included “The Flowers Beneath Your Feet,” her duet with The Pain of Being Pure At Heart’s and The Natvral’s Kip Berman. Opening the night was The Natvral, the latest musical project of The Pain of Being Pure of Heart’s Kip Berman. Check out photos from the show below.
