Photography: 43rd Annual Dominican Day Parade 8/10/25
Our current fascist administration wants to bring us back to the 1880s — all while denying that we all live in a deeply interconnected, multicultural, multigenerational and very complex world. They stupidly hate cities because cities make their worldview seem as ignorant, backward and small as they are.
The 43rd Annual Dominican Day Parade was a boisterous and happy celebration of New York’s 700,000+ Dominicans and their country/ancestral homeland. I fucking love parades. They’re a feast for the senses: the beautiful, smiling faces; the colorful traditional garb; the flags; the music blaring; the smells of the food . . .
It’s impossible to take photos of everything and everyone. You’ll inevitably miss something — but you’ll try because there are so many moments to capture. What a wonderful day to celebrate what makes New York and this country truly great — diversity.
