Earlier this week, I was in the West Village to cover the 50th Village Halloween Parade. The parade was a much-needed joy bomb when things haven’t been all that great: The amount of good will, friendliness and playfulness was wonderful. I honestly don’t think I’ve laughed that much — or danced that much in several months.
Photos are below.
Caption: ET is phoning home. I hope he has a great cell phone plan because that call will be very expensive.
Caption: John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Indeed, war will be over (if we want it).
Caption: Hilariously enough, this character was standing right near a group of cops.
Caption: Spider at Jefferson Market Library on West 8th and 6th Avenue. It’s an annual parade tradition to see it while you’re marching the route.
Caption: I think this alien is right — on both parts.
Caption: This woman was one of at least two people dressed up as the OceanGate submarine, complete with Xbox controller.
Caption: These two kids were adorable.
Caption: What a great way to start any parade — a brass band!
Caption: Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters, am I right?
