Photography: Broken Metrocard Machine, 8th Avenue Between 35th and 34th Streets

I’m currently in Baltimore for a family reunion. It’s the first time that I’ve traveled with my mom as an adult, and the first time that mom has traveled anywhere in quite some time. Sadly, posts will be a bit sporadic until I return — and of course, you should expect some photos from Charm City.

You might recall, that the other day, I had an appointment to pick up a press card from NYC Media and Entertainment‘s Press Credentials Office in the David N. Dinkins Manhattan Municipal Building on Centre Street. Up until the other day, I had never been in the building — although I’ve passed by it countless times while downtown.

After picking up my press card, I took some photos around Downtown Manhattan and went into Midtown to meet up with a friend for lunch. I got on an 215 Street-bound A train at Chambers Street and got off at 34th Street. I managed to get on the front of the street and exited at the 35th Street entrance, which was an extreme rarity for me. But as I walking to Moynihan Train Hall to meet my visiting friend, I passed by this utterly bashed in Metrocard Machine.

I have to admit I can’t blame the person who did that. Occasionally, those machines are frustrating because they don’t quite work.
