A couple of weeks ago, the lovely young woman behind the blog Rocker Stalker had a belated birthday show featuring a number of bands including the Bronx and Spanish Harlem-based trio the Tye Trybe, NYC-based Adult Dude, and the Connecticut-based Twin Berlin.
Out of the three bands I caught, the Tye Trybe was the highlight of the night as they played a raw, power chord-based rock that was deceptively simple – in fact, it was much more nuanced and dynamic, as it involved complex chord changes, sudden leaps and starts that felt as they came out at strange angles, completed with howled lyrics. Cool stuff.
