I went over to the American Natural History Museum for Macy’s annual Thanksgiving Day Balloon Inflation Celebration. (Those photos will come in a bit. I’m editing stuff here and there as we speak — even during the holiday y’all.) Getting uptown was a bit annoying: There was a water main break on West 102nd Street near Central Park West, which caused interruptions in uptown B,C and D train service. So, I wound up having to go to 42nd Street/Times Square for an uptown 1 — and walking a couple of blocks east.
I spent a few hours wandering around the balloons and the floats, taking photos and selfies. As the sun began to set, the temperature dropped quite a bit. Event employees were telling every attendee that they had to take the 1 train because of service interruptions. With that in mind, I decided to go to a bar to warm up and for a couple of pints. By the time, I would be done, most of the balloon inflation crowd would have cleared out.
Walking to a downtown 1 train at 79th and Broadway, I came across Banksy’s Hammer Boy, which is always worthy of a few minutes of your time.
