Comprised of brothers Dru (keys, guitar) and Kumar Grant (electronics, percussion) and Emma Wilson (vocals), the London, UK-based electro pop trio KOIYA formed late last year, and they’ve quickly won over a growing fanbase and attention in London for a sound that pairs Wilson’s gorgeous, soulful and yearning vocals with live percussion and slick, brooding production featuring ominously swirling electronics and enormous, tweeter and woofer low-end as you’ll hear on “Brood,” the first single off the trio’s forthcoming self-titled EP, slated for a May 5, 2017 release. Sonically, they seem to draw from Portishead — but with a muscular and modern approach.
